With exercise comes a long list of benefits that will enhance your quality of life and reduce your risk of future medical complications.  Along with helping you maintain or achieve the body shape that is right for you and strengthen your heart, lungs and muscles, there are a host of other positive affects.  For example, exercise can improve your energy levels, appetite, sleep pattern, stress level and enhance your feeling of overall wellbeing.  High cholesterol, triglycerides (type of fat in the blood) and blood sugar are common in people living with HIV/AIDS and exercise can decrease the level of all of these substances in your blood, reducing your risk of cardiovascular disease and complications from diabetes.  Another issue common among PLWHA is low bone mass.  Weight bearing or resistance exercise like weight lifting can help maintain bone mass, so it is essential to incorporate it on a regular basis.  Exercise can even help stabilize or prevent declines in CD4 cell counts (helping you maintain a healthy immune system.
